Haunted House with Gerwick Puppets and Charlestown Spirits on Thursday

Events happening this coming week in Charlestown.

"Inside the Haunted House" by the Gerwick Puppets will be held Thursday, Oct. 24, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. in the event room of the Charlestown Branch of the Boston Public Library, 179 Main St. The amazing Gerwick Puppets are back, this time with a Halloween tale. Two brave children venture into a haunted house after dark to discover a world of imagination and fun. This show may be frightening to preschool children. Please arrive on time as latecomers will not be admitted.

• On Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Pier 6 Boston Waterfront is donating 15 percent of each check to the USS Constitution Museum. The museum, a private, non-profit museum receiving no direct Federal funding located in the Charlestown Navy Yard National Park, was shuttered for 16 days due to the Federal Government partial shutdown. As a result, the halls of the usually bustling museum were empty during one of our busiest months of the year, resulting in the loss of more than $110,000 in much-needed revenue. Although the Museum has be able to re-open, we still need your help!

• Jamie Oxendine, a speaker, writer, educator, and member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, will present an interactive program about the experiences of Native Americans during and after the War of 1812 on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 6 p.m. at the USS Constitution Museum, 88 Constitution Rd.Reception to follow. Sponsored in part by The Lowell Institute.

• Spirits of Charlestown with MaryLee Trettenero is presented by the Friends of the Charlestown Branch Library on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Charlestown Branch of the Boston Public Library, 179 Main St. Charlestown resident Trettenero is well known throughout Boston and vicinity as a gifted intuitive, healer and psychic medium. Free and open to all, with a reception following.
