U.S. Senate candidate Gabriel Gomez joined Charlestown resident Elena Barbera on Day 23 of her 30-day Bunker Hill Monument climb. "Gabriel's support for the survivors is incredible, likely because it really hits home for him. He ran the Boston Marathon and passed the finish line shortly before the first bomb went off. Thankfully his family left the finish as soon as he passed, but it took him 20 minutes to find out that they were safe," Barbera wrote in the caption of the photo, which was posted to her public Facebook wall.

Elena Barbera has been climbing the local monument every day since April 23 to raise money for the amputee victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Established by the Charlestown Division of the Boston Municipal Court and its Probation Department, in partnership with the Charlestown Substance Abuse Coalition, the Charlestown Addiction Recovery Treatment (CHART) program is a specialized court session that helps people on probation who suffer with chronic substance abuse. As an alternative to prison, these individuals voluntarily participate in court-stipulated drug treatment.
