St. John School Hosts First Annual Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day

On Friday, October 25, 175 grandparents and special friends joined us at St. John School to spend the morning visiting with us. Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day was a new opportunity for St. John School to invite our families to come in and spend a few hours to see our school through the eyes of our students as well as meeting their friends and teachers that they hear so much about.

Our day started out with a welcome breakfast reception with our Principal, Karen McLaughlin. Guests were then invited to visit the classrooms and spend some time with their grandchildren/friends. Our teachers planned a wide range of activities for students to share with their guests including bingo, singing, art projects, crafts, reading stories and playing games.

“Our students have been eagerly anticipating this day so they could show off their school and all the great school work they do each day,” stated Principal, Karen McLaughlin. “Our grandparents and special friends really enjoyed being here and participating in some of the student’s activities.”

Our first annual Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day was a huge success. The day gave our students the opportunity to give the special people in our children’s lives a first-hand view of St. John School.

Thank you to the grandparents and special friends who came to celebrate our inaugural event. Thank you as well to the more than 25 parent volunteers who made the event possible, it was a special day for everyone!
