Letter: Kennedy Center Considering New Preschool Program

Center aims to fill the void left behind by Tiny Tots.

The following was sent to us by Rebecca Love at The Kennedy Center. It has been lightly edited.

The Kennedy Center is exploring the option to create a New Preschool for 2.9-5 year olds in Charlestown to start September 2012.

The preschool would be modeled on a Creative Curriculum which will have developmentally appropriate activities for children based in science, reading, math, art and music, ext.

The goal is to be an affordable, private pay option, with choices of a two-day program (Tue/Thus), three-day program (M, W, F) or a five-day program (M,Tu, W, Th, Fri).

The program would run each day for either five hours from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. or nine hours from 8a.m. to 6 p.m. The program would run from September-June, with a continuation of programing over the summer for families who would like to keep their children enrolled.

We are asking for families interested in sending their child to please email Frontdesk@kennedycenter.org with the number of children and the program they would be interested in attending by Monday, April 23.

The Kennedy Center is looking for a commitment of 20 children to launch the program. Also, we are looking for parents interested in helping to build this program and create a parent governance board to also email Frontdesk@kennedycenter.org.

With the closing of Tiny Tots and the long waitlists at nursery schools and K1 options across Boston, we hope this options turns into an affordable and sustainable option for preschoolers throughout Charlestown.
