Mayor Menino Remains in Hospital

The Boston official has been out of commission for nearly two weeks.

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino remains in Brigham & Women's Hospital, and he is expected to remain there at least through the weekend.

"The mayor is doing well, getting better every day. I do not know when he might be out," said John Guilfoil, spokesperson for the Mayor's Office.

Menino checked into the hospital after returning from an anniversary trip from Italy with his wife, Angela, in October.

He was originally hospitalized for an upper respiratory infection. While in the hospital he also been getting treatment for a small blood clot in one of his legs. And most recently he suffered an injury to his back.

"He did sustain a compression fracture in his back, which doctors think may have been from the way he was positioned in bed," Guilfoil said.
