Daniel J. Ryan Wins State Primary for 2nd Suffolk District

Ryan came out victorious Tuesday over Democratic opponents Roy Avellaneda and Christopher Remmes.

Daniel Joseph Ryan was voted top runner to fill Eugene O'Flaherty's seat as State Rep. for Boston's Second Suffolk District in Tuesday's Special State Primary election, according to the Boston Globe

Ryan took in 2,290 votes to win the nomination, a victory over Roy A. Avellaneda, who finished second with 1,260 votes, and Christopher Remmes, who pulled in 438 votes, according to the report. 

Voter turnout was below 20 percent in Tuesday's election for both the second and 13th Suffolk districts, and while no Republications were on the ballot for the district, 83 write-in votes were cast Tuesday on the Republican side, according to the Globe.
