Rolling Papers Lead to Crack-Possession Charges for CHS Student

On Thursday, Sept. 6, an officer responded to the main office of Charlestown High School where a student had been found with a clear plastic bag with what looked like ten rocks of crack cocaine inside. The student had been stopped during a search at the school’s metal detectors, according to a report, because his bag contained a box of rolling papers. A staff member found the plastic bag—along with two partially-burnt marijuana cigarettes—inside the box. As a result of the incident, the student was charged with possession of a class B substance with intent to distribute in a school zone.

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, Sept. 4, officers responded to a Monument Street address for a report of a domestic situation in progress. A caller had told a 911 operator that a man at that address had gotten into a physical altercation with his wife before she locked herself in the bathroom to hide from him. When officers arrived, according to a report, the husband and wife were sitting apart in the living room. “No injuries were observed on [the wife], but she had watery eyes and [was] visibly shaking,” the report said. The pair said they had an argument that turned physical. As a result of the incident, officers arrested the husband and charged him with assault and battery.

Around 10:35 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, a 1st Avenue man told police that a friend had stolen his watch from his while he was asleep. The friend had been over the previous night and the victim had left his diamond-encrusted watch on the dresser. When he woke, both his friend and the watch were gone. He said he had had problems with the friend taking money from him before, but had never pursued the issue.
