Man Charged with Keying Car on Main Street

A visibly intoxicated man reportedly walked up to a marked cruiser near Main and Phipps Street. The man held out a set of keys, reportedly repeating, “I’m going home,” and “I’m from Southie.”

A few seconds later, the officers were approached by the victim, who claimed their car was keyed by the intoxicated suspect. The victim told the police that they were out walking their dog when they observed the suspect moving passed their vehicle with an outstretched arm. The victim told police that they also heard a screeching sound and observed a long scratch mark on the rear driver side door.

Police arrested Daniel Helen of 86 Marine Street, South Boston and charged him with malicious destruction of a motor vehicle.
