Since 2003, the council has had the privilege of distributing mitigation funds to Charlestown’s most worthy, non-profit organizations.

This funding, originally secured as a result of real estate development opportunities created with the removal of elevated highway ramps and rapid transit structures crisscrossing City Square, has been the source of hundreds of thousands of dollars directly benefiting Charlestown’s youth organizations, the elderly and underprivileged, community beautification initiatives, and the arts.
