Daily 5: Watch Holiday Classics at the Charlestown Branch Library

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on Monday, July 8 in Charlestown.

1. Movie Mondays: Check out some of Hollywood’s classic films on Mondays in July at the Charlestown Branch Library (179 Main St.). The July 8 film will be “Roman Holiday” (1953), starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck. This program will start at 2:30 p.m. and is free and open to the community.

2. BHCC Open House: Bunker Hill Community College (250 Rutherford Ave.) will host an open house for prospective students on Saturday, July 13. The event will include campus tours and meetings with representative from admissions, faculty, academic departments, advising and more. Register at bhcc.mass.edu/openhouse.

3. Calling all garden enthusiasts! The annual Boston Garden Contest is underway to name the city's most beautiful gardens in several different categories, including small gardens and business gardens. Nominate yourself or your favorite neighborhood garden by July 12. Finalists will win a prize package, and one lucky winner will win free flights from JetBlue.

4. Read to Seamus: Children are welcome to drop by the Charlestown Branch Library (179 Main St.) on Mondays in June from 4:30-5:30 p.m. to read to trained therapy dog Seamus. For more information, call 617-242-1248.
