Daily 5: Storymobile on Friday, Spaulding Open House on Saturday

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on Friday, July 19 in Charlestown.

1. Mostly sunny and hot: The heat wave will continue with mostly sunny skies and a high near 101 degrees on Friday, July 19. Heat index values could reach 105, according to the National Weather Service. Low around 78. Weekend forecast: Saturday will be mostly sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Some storms could produce small hail, gusty winds and heavy rain. High: 92, Low: 70. Sunday will be mostly cloudy with showers and T-storms likely before 10 p.m.; again, some storms could be severe. High: 79, Low: 63.

2. Spaulding open house on Saturday: Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital will hold a free open house and health fair on Saturday, July 20. Tour the new building, learn about the community programs and clinics that Spaulding offers and benefit from free blood pressure screenings and health information. Special guests from the New England Patriots and the New England Revolution will be on hand, as well Karson Tager of Mix 104.1’s “Karson and Kennedy In the Morning.” Kids can bring their favorite stuffed friend to a teddy bear clinic for a check-up. This event will be held rain or shine.

3. Crafts in the park: Mayor Thomas Menino is sponsoring free craft workshops around Boston parks during the month of July. On Fridays, July 19 and 26, bring the kids to the John Harvard Mall (between Harvard and Main streets) in Charlestown. All sessions run from 9 a.m. to noon. 4. Storymobile: ReadBoston’s Storymobile Program will be bringing books and literacy activities to Charlestown children on Fridays in July and August. The Storymobile will be at The Children’s Quarters (136 First Ave.) at 10 a.m., the Kennedy Center (23A Moulton St.) at 11:15 a.m. and the Charlestown Branch Library (179 Main St.) at 1:15 p.m.

5. Free wellness clinic: A free wellness clinic for veterans and their families will be held on the third Saturday of the month from July through October from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at Charlestown Yoga (191 Main St.). Discover the healing benefits of Reiki, acupuncture, reflexology and massage at this free community clinic.
