Daily 5: Artists in Residence Workshops Offered in Boston Parks

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on Tuesday, July 9 in Charlestown.

1. Possible showers: Today will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service. Some storms could produce heavy rain. High: 80, Low: 69.

2. Crafts in the park: Mayor Thomas Menino is sponsoring free Artists in Residence craft workshops around Boston parks during the month of July. On Tuesdays July 9, 16 and 23, drop by DeFilippo Park (Prince and Snow Hill streets) in the North End. On Fridays, July 12, 19 and 26, bring the kids to the John Harvard Mall (between Harvard and Main streets) in Charlestown. All sessions run from 9 a.m. to noon. 3. Orange Line diversion: Shuttle buses will replace MBTA Orange Line service between Sullivan Station in Charlestown and Oak Grove Station in Malden beginning at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9 through Thursday, July 11. The buses will stop at all stations in between. The service change will allow MBTA crews to perform work on the new Assembly Station

4. Free fitness class: Participate in free pilates at the Greenway, just north of Hanover Street, on Tuesday, July 9 from 6-7 p.m., part of the Boston Moves for Health summer fitness program. 5. Research study: The MGH-Charlestown Imaging Center is running a research study on maternal bonding and is looking for healthy mothers, ages 21 to 45, with infants ages 4-18 months to participate. For information, contact Dr. Shir Aztil at 617-373-2649 or email savraham-atzil@partners.org.
