Close Knit Marina Residents Fear Their Life on the Water Will End

Living on a boat is not for everyone, but the residents of the Shipyard Quarters Marina in Charlestown enjoy life on the water.

Those living on boats on Piers 6 and 8 received eviction letters last week, but they got a stay on their removal when a Suffolk County Judge halted the eviction of the 112 boats – including 30 houseboats, according to a report in the Boston Globe.

Residents of the marina like the close knit community, the quiet of the area and being rocked to sleep by the motion of the boats. Those living in houseboats have found that no other marinas will take houseboats, the Globe reports.
