Take a Moment to Thank a Local Veteran

Post a public thank you to those who served on Patch in honor of Veterans Day.

Today is Friday, Nov. 11. Here are five things you need to know today.

1. Take a moment to honor local veterans. You can do it personally this morning by stopping by Charlestown's Veterans Memorial Park where there will be a small flag-raising ceremony at 11 a.m. Some of the neighborhood's own vets will be there as well as officials from the Life Focus Center, which is leading renovations at the park. 2. Or you can post a comment on Patch to thank a vet close to you. We've got a nice dedication going already.

4. And on the topic of veterans -- did you know a majority of the Massachusetts student veterans using GI Bill benefits are enrolled in community colleges and state universities? And that is one of the leading institutions for student veteran enrollment and support. Check out our
