5 Things: Teamsters' Blood Drive, Spring Cleanup

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on April 26 in Charlestown.

1. Mostly sunny: Today will be mostly sunny with a high near 61 degrees and a low around 42, according to the National Weather Service. Weekend forecast: Saturday and Sunday will be sunny with highs in the middle to upper 60s and lows around 45.

2. Library art: Bring children of all ages to the Charlestown Branch Librarytoday at 10 a.m. for a messy but fun art project. This program is free and open to all.

3. Blood drive: Teamsters Local 25 (544 Main St.) in Charlestown is holding a blood drive on Saturday to benefit the American Red Cross. The blood drive will take place at the union hall from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

4. Art contest deadline: The Department of Conservation and Recreation is seeking artists to paint wildlife and landscape scenes on 99 Iron Rangers, the narrow metal contribution containers located in parks across the state. 5. Spring cleanup: The annual Boston Shines community cleanup is scheduled this Saturday between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Every year, about 5,000 volunteers come together to help plant flowers, sweep, rake and pick up trash around the city. Register now as a volunteer or register your business or organization to help with the event.
