The added expense wasn't practical right now - when wil it be? The CNC always caves.

ReplyIt would be very nice to see some street level retail capacity and not just one more characterless block of apartments.

ReplyWhat a very depressing list, nothing much good here, but I believe that in fact there many positive events during the year and much reason to be optimistic about the future. There s nothing wrong with reporting good news, by the way!

ReplyThere are 350 million +/- guns in the hands of the public. Increased gun control efforts may only slow that down, though such efforts do not apply to "gun shows", for some inexplicable reason. Impressionable people will continue to be bombarded with violence on TV, in the movies and in video games. Any solution can only be very long term and could perhaps begin with a joint-initiative between gun control advocates, including Bloomberg and Menino and hopefully a substantial representation from congress and the White House and the NRA to agree to find a solution/compromise to the "Second Amendment" issue that might satisfy all parties. While many might find such a suggestion to be ridiculous and completely unlikely, I would argue that without steps towards such a compromise this will continue and we will lose 100,000 lives a year in perpetuity.

ReplyLeaves at 9.00 am, arrives when? Returns at 10.30. Doesn't seem to allow much time for shopping, assuming it takes at least 30 mins to get there.

ReplyNothing overshadows Thanksgiving, the most important family holiday of the year; black Friday appeals to those who let it. In any case the " true meaning of the holidays" is a personal matter different for each individual.

Every debate about development in Charlestown includes discussion about parking and the recent CDC/CNC support for another development in the Navy Yard, WITHOUT any dedicated parking in no exception. Perhaps this could encourage the CNC and all its sub-committees to take a look at the overall parking situation in Charlestown and come up with a master plan, or is that asking too much of this august body?
