On the Blog Post Did you miss Relay on Where's Wilmington at WCTV?

ReplyFoghorn Leghorn, your post has been deleted, since we don't need to plunge into personal attacks. But generally speaking, Kevin, fundraisers to fight any specific disease are to fund research. If the money is intended to support specific individuals or people in specific towns, the fundraisers usually say so. Anyone's skepticism about anyone's fundraising is fair, but Matt is right: blasting volunteers who are giving their time is not the time or place. You are welcome to write a blog post outlining your concerns, but do not pile on someone else's good-faith efforts.

On the article A 'Goodbye' from Your Newton Editor

Bittersweet farewell is right: Melanie, you have been such a pro, and a hard-working and thoughtful pro, that it is a bit bitter to have to say goodbye (professionally, anyway) but sweet for new, next steps for you. It has been such a pleasure to work with you, I can't thank you enough. The other 'sweet' part of this: Newton, you will love your new editor, Brooklyn Lowery, as much as you welcomed Melanie. Godspeed, Melanie.

ReplyI know Lexington does bird species counts each year; I'd love to hear what people have found individually. In my neighborhood in Jamaica Plain, one guy has found 80 kinds of birds in about a 3-block area. I bet Lexington has way more than that.

Interesting idea, Holly; I'm guessing those nets are NOT easy to take down, but can someone with their own soccer net weigh in?

ReplyOld cars rule! For 18 years, I drove my dream car: a 1988 BMW 325 convertible. But my dream car now is probably just as silly for our
New England winters: the Citroen 2CV, aka Deux Chevaux. I would *love* to putter around in one of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citro%C3%ABn_2CV -

A few notes here:
1) Not all Patches are intermingled; that is incorrect. On a big, fast-moving story, we connect them so we can post more quickly. That happens very seldom.
2) We do not edit comments unless they violates our Terms of Use, seen in the footer of every single Patch page. But two of those terms: no comments that are threatening, harassing or that promote racism, bigotry, hatred or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual or is defamatory, abusive, obscene, profane or offensive. If you violate the terms, we take it down. Thanks to everyone else is keeping a lively but civil discussion going. -

Charlie, so glad you'll still be doing some coverage of Watertown as part of your new responsibilities!
