Hi, Charlestown! I would like to introduce myself as your new permanent local editor for Charlestown Patch. I'm taking over officially for former Charlestown editor Matt Casey and for interim editor Nate Homan, who has been keeping you informed prior to my arrival. A little about me: Most recently, I worked as the local editor for Needham Patch, starting with the company in April 2011. Before moving to Boston, I lived and worked on the South Shore as the assistant editor of a community weekly, the Pembroke Express, for the independent, family-owned Clipper Press—a paper I was lucky enough to get to start from the ground up. Patch doesnt care about the journalism aspect. They are looking to make it more "community focused" by gathering news from the community which is "free". Then charge advertisers overpriced ads for paltry traffic numbers at best. They tell the advertisers they are better than the publications that get free news, but now see that as the way for them to make more money.   more ›
