The former Navy SEAL killed in Libya in September was the son of a Charlestown resident.
The son of a Charlestown man is being remembered with a new foundation formed in his memory after he was killed in a terrorist attack in Libya in September. Glen Doherty, 42, was one of four Americans killed in an attack against the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya on Sept. 12, 2012. A former Navy SEAL, he was working in Libya as a private security contractor. "Although the attack began on Sept. 11, Glen fought hard throughout the night and saved many before succumbing to a mortar attack in the early hours of Sept. 12," a member of the newly formed Glen Doherty Foundation wrote in a press release.
