Job Shadow Day at Charlestown High School
Students spent time recently with members of the Boston police and fire departments, a software development company, law firm and other local businesses.
Recently, 33 students from Charlestown High School participated in Job Shadow Day. These students spent the day alongside local professionals, learning about the world of work and understanding what it takes to stand out in today’s competitive job market. “It was a really good experience,“ said CHS senior Sarah Williams, who spent the day at the Charlestown Substance Abuse Coalition. Williams wants to pursue a career in social work, and Job Shadow Day gave her the chance to see the day-to-day realities of such a job. “You don’t want to go to college and study something you don’t really know anything about,” Williams said.
