Donations made to support the holiday figures set up in the Thompson Square area will be sent to the Connecticut community.
Though there has been some discussion about whether the holiday-themed inflatables set up in Charlestown's Preservation Park are "too much," criticism isn't deterring the people who put them there. A small group gathered Monday night at Olivia Browning in Charlestown to light candles in memory of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, an impromptu vigil set up by emails and texts earlier in the day. From 8 to about 8:30 p.m., seven women from around Charlestown stood in the shop in City Square, holding white candles wrapped in green-and-white ribbons, and talked about the tragic events of Friday, Dec. 14. I think donations going to Newtown, CT is a wonderful gesture. Theres a town that had an unexpected amount of grief bestowed upon them and maybe some DO need the money since they've all just spent thousands burying their loved ones.
