Busy pet owners in Charlestown and downtown Boston soon will have a new place to bring their pups while they are at work. Crate Escape, a dog daycare and grooming business, is opening its third location at 200 Terminal St., Charlestown on Jan. 28. The site marks owners Bradley and Stephanie Hastings’ first move from the suburbs into the downtown Boston area since opening the business in 2004. The first facility, opened as Raining Cats and Dogs but later renamed Crate Escape Too, is located in Huron Village, Cambridge, with a second spot located at 30 Brighton St., Belmont. “We’re just really excited to get a chance to provide daycare for Boston dogs,” said Barbara Stanley, marketing manager. A new dog daycare facility is opening in November.
Crate Escape is coming to Charlestown next month, opening a new location at 200 Terminal Street. Crate Escape already has two locations in Belmont and in Cambridge. The new dog daycare facility will have 17,000 square feet of room to run around and play in for dogs of all sizes. The dog-smart staff will pick up customers dogs at their homes and let them play for up to six hours then drop them off later on. Dogs are kept off of a leash under staff supervision with other dogs of similar temperament, according to a press release. Hi Mary Kay, Crate Escape had a booth at the Open Market last summer and we were amazed how many dogs visited us. Plus, Charlestown residents are so friendly, like people saying, 'No I don't have a dog, but my neighbor does; I will give her a brochure'.
