Today is Presidents Day, a U.S. holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February in honor of all American presidents—in particular, two who were born in February, George Washington (Feb. 22) and Abraham Lincoln (Feb. 12). The holiday was originally created in 1885 in honor of the nation's first president, George Washington, and was celebrated every year on his actual birthday, according to history.com. In 1971, the holiday was changed to Presidents Day. Today, Presidents Day is considered by many to be a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents, past and present, although some still refer to the day as "Washington's Birthday."
