'Weatherize Now' Social Set Feb. 13

Charlestown residents can learn more about the Renew Boston energy assessment program.

Charlestown residents are invited to come learn more about a city program designed to help them reduce their energy use at an after-work social on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at Max & Dylan's. Mayor Thomas Menino’s Renew Boston initiative helps Boston residents, property owners, small condo associations, landlords and renters living in one- to four-unit buildings to weatherize their buildings in an effort to reduce utility costs. Sign up for a no-cost home energy assessment at renewboston.org or by calling 617-365-SAVE (7283). Qualifying households could receive: rebates for heating and water system upgrades, appliances, and more; zero percent interest financing on qualified energy efficiency improvements; or 75 percent off insulation and air …

City Program to Assist with Insulation Costs

Renew Boston is offering no-cost home energy assessments and free efficiency upgrades including insulation before the year is up.

The neighborhood network coordinator for Renew Boston stopped by the Charlestown Neighborhood Council meeting this month with a simple message: Residents should take advantage of a city program to insulate their home before the winter. Renew Boston staff are trying to improve insulatation in as many homes as possible in Boston area. They're providing no-cost energy assessments all over the city, to this end. And, as long as homeowners (or tenants and landlords approve) Renew Boston provides up to $3,500 toward the cost of insulating a home. However, the program expires on Dec. 31.
