Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Day in Boston Nov. 17

Residents can dispose of toxic, flammable or corrosive household materials this weekend at a West Roxbury site.

This Saturday, Nov. 17, is the last day this fall on which Boston residents can drop off household hazardous waste to be disposed of for free.  Residents may bring up to 50 pounds of products labeled toxic, flammable, reactive, corrosive or poisonous, including: oil-based paint, motor oil, pesticides, solvents, glues, bleach or ammonia-based cleaners, weed killers, photo chemicals, pool chemicals, car batteries and used motor oil.   Note: Latex or acrylic (water-based) paints are no longer accepted at hazardous waste days. They are not hazardous and can be safely disposed at home. Other items that won't be accepted are: asbestos, explosives, medical waste, fire extinguishers and TV and computer screens. See this flyer for a full list.  …
