The man in red visited with children Saturday during the Holiday Stroll.
You couldn't have picked a more perfect setting to kick off the holiday season in Charlestown on Saturday, Dec. 1. As big, fat snowflakes fell, covering the city with a thin but picturesque blanket of white, Santa Claus visited with children in Preservation Park, while stores throughout the neighborhood offered special activities and savings during the Charlestown Chamber of Commerce's 2012 Holiday Stroll. Over on Medford Street, artists opened their studios and offered up unique gift items in a Holiday Boutique at the StoveFactory, while the Women's Club provided even more shopping opportunities at their Holiday Fair at the Knights of Columbus. Local intuitive MaryLee Trettenero will lead three spirit tours during the Holiday Stroll.
Present-day Charlestown residents can meet some of the neighborhood’s former residents during the “Ghosts of Christmas Past” tours offered Saturday, Dec. 1 during the Holiday Stroll. MaryLee Trettenero, a psychic medium, professional intuitive and 25-year resident of Charlestown, will lead three walking tours—one geared for children and two for adults—during the community’s holiday kick-off event this weekend. Trettenero started doing intuitive readings for people about 15 years ago and also runs a spirit message circle and provides other counseling and healing through her business, Boston Intuitive. Recently, she began reading places as well as people. “In 2005, I was sort of drawn to the City Square Park as a historical site, and I …

The event will feature deals from local businesses, performances and a trolley shuttling participants around the neighborhood.
By the time you've digested your Thanksgiving turkey, it will be time to get ready to celebrate again with local businesses and nonprofits during this year's Holiday Stroll and Tree Festival. Bette Task, a Charlestown native and recent retiree, is organizing the stroll, with backing from Diane Grant of the Charlestown Business Association. The event will take place on Dec. 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. -- and it's shaping up to be a busy event for the neighborhood. "[December 4th] is a pretty big day in Charlestown," Grant said. Autoport, a local business that Grant said has been dedicated to neighborhood involvement, donated a trolley for the event. The trolley will act as a shuttle for the day, picking up and dropping off participants at …
