Charlestown Working Theater will present the family-friendly puppet show "Squirrel Stole My Underpants" on April 13 and 14. In the show, Sylvie is sent to the backyard to hang up the laundry. The moment her back is turned, a mischievous squirrel steals her favorite piece of clothing and runs off. When Sylvie gives chase, an entire world emerges from her laundry basket, and curious characters show her the way through mysterious lands. Award-winning actor and dancer Bonnie Duncan premiered this show for 10 sold-out performances in January. Duncan designed and sewed all the puppets herself. Santa Claus will kick off things on Saturday, Dec. 1 with a visit to Preservation Park (across from Thompson Square) at 10 a.m., part of Charlestown Chamber of Commerce’s 2012 Holiday Stroll. Throughout the day, until about 4 p.m., businesses and organizations around the neighborhood will offer special deals, tastes, activities and more as part of the stroll. The Charlestown Lions Club's annual Veterans Day Pancake Breakfast is coming up on Sunday, Nov. 11. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The Lions Club invites the community to, "Come join family, friends and neighbors to honor our veterans, and those who serve their community for pancakes, sausages, pastries, coffee and juice." The cost is a $5 donation per person. Children ages 5 and under get in free. The event will also feature a free eye and health screening by the Lions Eyemobile as well as raffles, a 50/50 and prizes.
