Submitted The Charlestown Recovery House recently held its fifth annual gratitude fundraiser at the new Knights of Columbus with a crowd of over 250 supporters. The annual gratitude fundraiser is an opportunity for the supporters of CRH to get together and reflect on the past year. Last year, the Charlestown Recovery House initiated the Peter Looney Public Service Award in memory of one of CRH’s greatest supporters, Peter Looney. CRH recognized Judy Evers at last year’s event for her public service and support of the House. This year, CRH presented the Looney Award to Tom MacDonald for his work at Harvest on Vine. The Charlestown Recovery House will give Judy Evers the first-ever Peter Looney award during this year's annual fundraiser.
Every year, for the past five years, supporters of the Charlestown Recovery House have recognized the resource it provides to the community with a big fundraising party. This year, for the first time, organizers of the annual event have decided to give a community service award away -- and they've dedicated in the name of the late Peter Looney. It seemed fitting, they decided, to gift the inaugural prize to Judy Evers -- a longtime local activist who, like Looney did, has had a hand in dozens of community initiatives over the years.
