The following was submitted by Mass. Eye and Ear. It has not been edited. Sisters Mae and Andie Morelli of Charlestown, Mass., along with Grace and Maeve Devine of the Sound End, took their passion for Mass. Eye and Ear to the streets of Charlestown to help raise funds for pediatric programs at the hospital. The four girls set up a stand to sell refreshing cups of lemonade to Bunker Hill parade-goers walking through the area. The sign on their lemonade stand made the purpose for the purchase clear: “We are raising money for Mass. Eye and Ear, so here are some things you can buy.” One lemonade seller is a patient of Christopher Hartnick, M.D., of Mass Eye and Ear, who specializes in Pediatrics and Laryngology. In appreciation of the care …

Thank you to everyone that supported and participated in the Townie Association’s first campaign "Paint the Town: Red, White, & Blue" Thank you to all that cheered us on during the Parade! It was really exciting and we hope do it again next year. Charlestown looked very festive and patriotic for the parade. The town was all American from its stores to the houses that decorated and the balloons along the parade route. What a wonderful atmosphere it was! What was even more amazing was to see people take pride in their town by donating their time to help make the parade route festive. The people of Charlestown truly painted the Town: Red, White, & Blue! Thank You! Special Thanks to: Charlestown Against Drugs Charlestown Mother's Asso...…

Selected entries from the district A-15 police log for June 8-10.
On Sunday, June 10, a victim told police that someone smashed the windshield and damaged the bumper on his 2007 BMW some time over night. The vehicle had been parked at victim’s Main Street home. On Sunday, June 10, a victim told police that someone used a sharp object to leave a single a deep scratch down the length of the driver’s side of the victim’s 2007 Nissan while it was parked at 35 Old Ironsides Way some time between 6 and 7:30 p.m. On Friday, June 8, the plant manager of a business in the Bunker Hill Industrial Park reported that two white men stole $1,500 worth of equipment from the rear of the building. Surveillance equipment, the manager told police, spotted the pair as they loaded the equipment into the back of a vehicle and …

Congressman Michael Capuano told a crowd at Sunday's Bunker Hill Associates Breakfast that he would be willing to sponsor a bill to make Bunker Hill Day a national event, but he would need to see a swell of local support first. The Boston Herald posted video from the breakfast, where Capuano told attendees that the Battle of Bunker Hill "says more about America... than almost anything since." In the Herald article, both City Councilor Sal LaMattina and U.S. Senate Candidate Elizabeth Warren supported Capuano's idea. What do you think?

While plans to accompany this year’s Bunker Hill Day Parade with a carnival fell apart, that turn of events will have zero impact on the parade itself. The parade is scheduled for Sunday, June 10. We sent a photographer to the parade last year who came back with some great memories. But we’d like to see some of yours, as well. Feel free to share photos from past parades either to this gallery or on our “Bunker Hill Parade Memories” Facebook page we created last year. If you have an anecdote about a past experience at the parade, you can share it on the same page, or in the comment section below.

The following letter, written by Sean Boyle to members o the Charlestown Neighborhood Council, has been reprinted with permission. It has not been edited.
To the Members of the Charlestown Neighborhood Council, I am sad to inform you that I will no longer be planning the carnival for Charlestown's Bunker Hill Parade Week. Unfortunately, I called Dennis Kraez of Autoport today and he still did not have a definite answer for me. He said he still does not know when the shipment of cars will arrive during the month of June, and he cannot take a chance because he does not want to jeopardize his business. He said to call back on Tuesday (April 10th), to "remind him." But time is running out and I cannot wait on false hope any longer. Unless something miraculous happens, I will still call him on Tuesday to see if he has an answer, which I highly doubt. As much as I HATE giving up, I feel as if …
