Tuesday, Jan. 25: Charlestown defeats Fenway 104-24 In their largest win of the season, the Townies defeated Fenway High School in a dominating fashion. Akosa Maduegbunam had 21 points and 10 rebounds while Jamal Ellison and Michael Hodges both had 15 and 14 points, respectively. Saturday, Jan. 29: Townies Upset #1 ranked St. John's 72-56 This highly anticipated match-up ended in Charlestown's favor as Maduegbunam and Rony Fernandes combined for 45 points and 13 rebounds over St. John's Pat Connaughton, who had 29 points. The win moves the Townies into fourth place in the state and improves their record to 12-1. Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball Power Ahead

The week in Charlestown High School and youth sports.

Boys' Varsity Defeats Roxbury Latin Academy 78-52 Tyrik Jackson (14 points, 11 rebounds, 5 blocks) and power forward C.J. Dowdell (15 points, 4 blocks) both had solid games, while Akosa Maduegbunam (17 points on 7-of-10 shooting) contributed eight rebounds.  Girls' Varsity Basketball Team Loses to Boston Latin, 53-35 Still, the Townies are still ranked third in the Boston City North division with a league record of 2-1 averaging 40.5 points per game. Boys' Varsity Basketball Team Crushes South Boston 104-78 Akosa Nadeubunan led his team with a double-double (24 points, 12 rebounds) for the Townies.
