The child reportedly wandered out the front door while his uncle was in another room.
A toddler found outside without an adult on Tuesday afternoon in Charlestown was soon reunited with his family. According to police reports, the child was being watched by his uncle at the time, Boston Police Officer Robert Luongo said. When the man went into another room, the child walked out the front door, which was not locked or otherwise child-proofed. A Twitter alert based on radio reports sent out by @alertnewengland around that time stated: "Found 3 year old in the Charlestown section of Boston, if anyone's missing one." The child was located in front of the building and was reunited with his family, Luongo said. The appropriate Boston Police Department forms regarding the incident were filed. No charges were mentioned.

The Boston Police Foundation donated $83,000 to purchase technology to help police officers in the field.
Boston Police are getting more iPhones and iPads for personnel to use in the field to track stolen devices, real-time translation services and other common field operations. The Boston Police Foundation donated $83,619 to the city for the purchase of "additional iPads and iPhones." "The devices will be deployed to officers and will allow for the performance of warrant checks while in the field. Additionally, officers will have the ability to do relevant Internet searches and utilize applications for real-time translation, mapping and tracking stolen devices, among other tasks," Boston Mayor Thomas Menino said in a statement about the donation. Massachusetts State Police are investigating the sudden death of a man they believe jumped off the Tobin Bridge on Thursday afternoon. "Uniformed State Police units were notified at about 2:20 [p.m.] that the deceased pulled over on the Charlestown side of the bridge and jumped over the railing," Jake Wark, press secretary for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, said in an email briefing. An on-duty MBTA police officer reportedly stopped the suspect.
[UPDATE Monday, 3:21 p.m.] An on-duty transit officer arrested a man after he allegedly tried to rob a Charlestown Dunkin’ Donuts with a spoon Saturday evening. The suspect, identified as Michael Wallace, reportedly threatened cashiers at the Cambridge Street store with what appeared to be a knife. Police later found that the man had been holding a spoon with the rounded end out like a blade, according to an interview on WHDH. The incident occurred on Saturday evening, Jan. 5, according to a Metro Boston story. Wallace was identified as a 35-year-old Boston resident. Officer Matthew Donovan with the MBTA Police entered the store during the incident and was able to stop the suspect, according to WHDH.
