Multiple Assault and Battery Reports Between Halloween and November 2

The following information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. Any charges mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

October 30: Charlestown Man Charged with Robbery and Possession of Pills    October 31:   Victim reported an unknown person broke into their home on Alford Street at 1:30 p.m.. Victim reported eight to 10 youths throwing eggs at a taxicab, striking the victim in the face with an egg. Reports of an unknown persons breaking into a house of Brighton Street at 8:32 p.m. Several items were taken. The investigation is on going. Woman Knocked Unconscious, Loses Teeth in Halloween Attack   November 1: Victim reported being struck in the head while walking home on Lawrence Street at 1 a.m.. I agree, I don't like the face that we haven't heard anything about this attack since it was first published - a couple of days after the actual attack. I understand that the girl attacked may not have been able to get a description of the attacker... but there has to be other details available that the police can share with the residents of Charlestown. Dorchester Man Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting Police Caller

Police arrest William Benjamin after third call about him in the same night.

A Dorchester man faces assault and battery charges after he allegedly took out his aggression on a good Samaritan Saturday morning. The attack’s victim, a Medford Street resident, told officers that he had gone out for a walk around 5:30 a.m. because an ongoing fight between a man and a woman in a nearby apartment had kept him awake. While on his walk near the building, William Benjamin of 194 Adams Street in Dorchester allegedly attacked the victim. The victim told police that Benjamin asked why he had called the police and demanded that the victim “stay out of my business.” According to the report, Benjamin then jumped on the victim’s back and hit him. Police Log: Man Arrested After Assault of a Pregnant Woman

Around 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12, officers responded to a report of an assault and battery on Tufts Street. The victim told police that she was six months pregnant and that her attacker, her domestic partner, had choked her, pulled her hair and pushed her into a wall. She said that she defended herself by picking up a hammer and swinging it. She declined medical attention and said she didn’t want to press charges. As a result of the incident, officers arrested David Goncalves of 34 Peaceful Lane in Wareham. Around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12, a sharp-eyed resident called the police and reported that she saw a juvenile breaking into her car. Police Log: Officers Charge Three With Assault

Crime in Charlestown for the week of March 12-18

On Saturday, March 11, officers responded to an assault and battery that had occurred at an O’Reilly Way apartment. The victim at the apartment was “visibly shaking and very upset” when officers arrived. He told police that Fidel Lledin entered the apartment around 11:45 p.m., intoxicated and upset about a personal problem. The victim reported that Lledin then attacked, punching him several times in the face and back of the head, throwing him to the ground and kicking him. Lledin was charged with assault and batter and destruction of personal property. The victim was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for further evaluation. Police Respond to Two Violent Attacks

In at least two incidents, victims were transported to a hospital for treatment.

In the last week, there have been multiple reports of assaults around the neighborhood. In at least two incidents, victims were transported to the hospital and treated for injuries. On Aug. 8, police responded to a report of a "man down" at 50 Monument Street around 8:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found a man with a stab wound, bleeding profusely from the face and stomach. The victim was transported to Mass. General Hospital for treatment. Officers traced the blood back to 25 Carney Court, where witnesses said a suspect ran inside an apartment to wash blood from his hands. After further investigation, police identified 50 Monument St. as the crime scene, where they spoke to the victim's mother -- and the suspect's mother as well. Police …

As a Charlestown resident and taxpayer I always wonder how many of these violent acts, robberies or larceny incidents are actually solved - where perpetraters are charged and convicted.
