Anthony's Dream Thanks Community for Support

Event to be held Friday.

The Future for a Family campaign for the Bill McGoff family, organized by Anthony’s Dream, is making final plans for this Friday night’s event at the Knights of Columbus.  The response from the households and businesses in the Charlestown community has been overwhelming. The prizes and raffle baskets donated and put together by so many are quite impressive. Once again, the hall will be filled with well intended neighbors gathering together in a festive environment to help a person in need.  All funds raised will go directly to McGoff's family needs. Our goal was high, and we are confident it will be reached. For that we thank the entire Charlestown community.  For more information go to www.anthonysdream.org

Letter: Anthony's Dream to Help Billy McGoff

Campaign will culminate March 30 with the “Future for a Family” night at the Knights of Columbus.

The following was submitted by Diane Grant. It was edited lightly. To Our Charlestown Neighbors:  Over the past ten years, with amazing support from the whole Community, Anthony’s Dream, has assisted multiple families of Charlestown as they face down the consequences of a medical crisis. Typically, a member of our committee will hear of a difficult situation, we will gather together or quickly exchange e-mails, and quietly provide assistance from the funds acquired at our annual Motown night. However, on two past occasions, we have been confronted by such a profound need that a targeted campaign was necessary. The first major effort, supported a young man in a very long and ultimately, lost battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma. The second, …

The Story of Anthony's Dream

For the past decade, the local group has fulfilled the wishes of Anthony Matson, a young man who lost his life to cancer -- but did not want to see a single Charlestown resident suffer financially in the face of illness.

For the past decade, friends and neighbors in Charlestown have been maintaining Anthony Matson's dream. Matson was a young man form the community who died after a brave battle with cancer. His dream was that no Charlestown resident would suffer through an illness for lack of resources. For 10 years, volunteers with the Anthony's Dream Fund have raised money and distributed more than $100,000 to Charlestown residents who have been burdened financially in coping with cancer and other catastrophic illnesses. This weekend is the 11th Annual Motown Night Fundraiser -- the sole fundraiser for Anthony's Dream. For more details on the event, click here. And for more info on how Anthony's Dream works, read the following Q&A with John Taglilatela, a…

A 'Thank You' from Anthony's Dream

Charlestown's local support system has donated $120,000 to neighbors in crisis. This month, Anthony's Dream hosts the 11th Annual Motown Night fundraiser to continue the work.

Editor's Note: Patch received this message from John J. Taglilatela. This message of "Thank You" is being passed along by the members of the Anthony's Dream committee, to you, from many of your Charlestown neighbors. One is from the couple holding hands as the wife says "Thank You for what you have done for us," the husband with a protective arm upon her shoulders, simply mouths a silent "Thank You" while nodding his head and glancing in the direction of his sick spouse. Another comes from the solo woman, sent to us from the rectory on the hill. Introverted by nature, an anonymous woman of the town. As you pass her an envelope she looks in your eyes and asks if she can give you a hug. It may be the loudest unspoken "Thank You" that a …
