Photo of the Day: Tournament Winners

A daily image of life in Charlestown for Monday, March 18.

Squirt B 10 and under won the McGonagle Tournament, held March 1-3 in Charlestown. Teams competing came from Charlestown, Stoneham, South Boston and Dorchester. Members of the team include: Dylan Zukowski, Justin Zukowski, Brendan Sweeney, Colm Vraibel, Eamon Vraibel, Marcus Kukanan, Jessica Pistorino, Amanda Forziti, Scott Charmers, Rich Bova, Owen Divalle, Drew Lavin, Olivia West, Kaliegh Wall, Pietro Bocca and William Macdonald, with Head Coach Bill Vraibel and Assistant Coach Mike Sweeney. Townies High Girls Hoops Swamped by Marauders in Playoff Opener

The Charlestown High School team lost 69-31 in the Div. 2 North tournament.

The playoffs were over before it started for the Charlestown High School girls basketball team. Host Belmont High School scored the first basket in the first two seconds of the game. They ran off to a 25-7 lead after the first quarter and never looked back as the Marauders trumped the Townies, 69-31, in the first-round Division 2 North playoff game on Tuesday, Feb. 27. The Townies end their season at .500 at 9-9. Senior guard and captain Sara Centeio led the Townies with 15 points including two threes.  Junior forward Kayla O'Brien and senior guard and co-captain Adrienne Allison each had five points as each played strong on both ends of the court.  Rounding out the scoring were senior guard Stephanie Dipena and senior forward Shannon …

Skier Hits the 'Slopes' of Charlestown During Blizzard

Scott Niejadlik shared a video of himself skiing city streets Friday night.

With a statewide ban on driving and the snow coming down hard all over Boston, one local resident took advantage of the empty streets and skied down the hills of Charlestown Friday night. Scott Niejadlik posted a video on vimeo.com of himself in full ski gear, hitting the "slopes" of Charlestown, set to the tune of "Pursuit of Happiness" by Kid Cudi featuring MGMT. Photo of the Day: Meeting Mickey

A daily image of life in Charlestown for Wednesday, Feb. 6.

Four-year-old Charlestown native Connor Woods visited with Rock Star Mickey Mouse from "Disney On Ice Presents 'Rockin' Ever After'" at the North End's DCR Steriti Memorial Rink on Jan. 29. From the looks of it, Woods is practicing to make the Bruins team, but his mom Erin Woods said Mickey Mouse is his favorite. Mickey was in Boston to promote his all new show, "Rockin' Ever After," which plays TD Garden during February school vacation week (Feb. 15-24).  Got a great photograph of Charlestown?
