Suffolk County Sobriety Checkpoint Planned Thursday

Massachusetts State Police will be on the lookout for people driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Massachusetts State Police will be operating a sobriety checkpoint this week at an undisclosed location in Suffolk County. The checkpoint will operate sometime between Thursday, May 23 and Friday, May 24. “The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways,” Colonel Timothy P. Alben, superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, said in a press release. Police Reports: Man Punched, Kicked Outside Restaurant

Man Punched, Kicked Outside Restaurant Two men reportedly attacked another man after leaving a Main Street restaurant on Saturday, May 11. According to reports, the victim was sitting on a bench outside the restaurant at around 10 p.m. when two men leaving the restaurant punched and kicked him several times. The suspects also kicked out the glass doors to the business. Boston Police detectives are investigating. Evidence Points to Boston Marathon Bombers' Connection to Waltham Murders

Investigators are looking into the possible involvement of the accused Boston Marathon bombers in the 2011 triple homicide in Waltham.

Authorities have amassed evidence indicating that accused Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan and Dzhokar Tsarnaev possibly killed three men in a Waltham home in 2011, according to ABC News. Investigators have "mounting evidence," including forensics, pointing toward the Tsarnaev brothers, ABC reports. Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed in an April 19 shootout with police in Watertown, and Dzhorkar was later captured hiding in a boat in Watertown.  After the April 15 bombings, federal and state authorities began investigating the brothers' possible link to the murders after learning Tamerlan was a close friend of one of the victims, Brendan Mess. Charlestown Shooting Victim Remembered

Friends on Wednesday gathered at a memorial set up at Monument and Medford streets and donated funds to help the family of a man who died Tuesday night.

Though Boston Police have not officially released the name of the man shot on Charlestown’s Monument Street late Tuesday night, residents around town seem to know exactly who he was, and they’re raising funds to help his family in the aftermath of his death. Boston Police detectives are investigating the shooting, which occurred at around 10:18 p.m. Tuesday night near 92 Monument St. According to numerous Twitter users from Charlestown and a GoFundMe.com page set up by Charlestown resident Shannon Lundin, the victim in Tuesday night’s shooting was local resident Steven Jones. Man Fatally Shot on Monument Street

Boston Police are investigating an incident that occurred in Charlestown at around 10:18 p.m. Tuesday night.

Boston Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man on Monument Street that occurred shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday night. Police received a call at around 10:18 p.m. reporting that a person had been shot in the area of 92 Monument St. When officers arrived at the scene, they observed a black male lying on the ground, suffering from a gunshot wound, a BPD public information officer said Wednesday. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. No further information was available about either the victim or the person or persons who may have shot him. This is an enormously complex issue that cities like Philadelphia have addressed, and the amount of housing projects that city used to have dwarfs Boston's. UPDATE 8:52 a.m. Wednesday, May 8 A man shot on Monument Street late Tuesday night has apparently died, according to reports from the Boston Globe and other sources.  Patch will confirm this information with police as soon as possible. ORIGINAL POST Boston Police responded to the area of 85 Monument St. in Charlestown Tuesday night, at around 10:30 p.m., for the report of shots fired, a department spokesman said. Man Caught Breaking Into Police Vehicle Police arrested a man after he began rummaging through an officer’s unmarked vehicle while they conducted an investigation in the area of Spice and Cambridge streets on Sunday, May 5. Officers were investigating a case in the area when they observed the man enter one of their vehicles, which were not marked, and “begin to rummage around the interior,” according to reports. Cause of Death Issued for Tamerlan Tsarnaev

Suspected Boston Marathon bomber's death caused by gunshot wounds, being run over by car.

The death of accused Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev has been ruled a homicide, according to a WCVB-TV report. According to the report, Tsarnaev's death was caused by gunshot wounds from police bullets and being run over by a car. Tsarnaev, 26, was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Deaconness Medical Center in Boston at 1:35 a.m. on Friday, April 19. Specifically, Tsarnaev sustained gunshot wounds to his torso and "extreme" blunt trauma to his head and torso, according to WCVB. Police have said Tsarnaev was run over by his brother, Dzhokar, during a shootout with police in Watertown. Boston Police: Three New Bombing Suspects in Custody

Officials stress there is no threat to the public, details still emerging.

Boston Police announced a major new development in the Boston Marathon bombing case Wednesday morning. According to the department, there are three new suspects in custody. Boston Police tweeted the news just after 11 a.m. Wednesday. There were no further details, though the police said they would offer more information soon. FBI: Three Classmates Destroyed Bombing Evidence to Help Friend

Federal law officials believe three classmates of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev destroyed evidence in Darmouth while the suspected bombing brothers fought police in a gunfight in Watertown. In a complaint filed in federal court Wednesday, special agent Scott Cieplik claims suspect Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakov destroyed or concealed a laptop and backpack filled with fireworks. Third suspect Robel Phillipos, meanwhile, is being charged with lying to federal officials.
