Ann E. (Blute) Humphrey, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. She was 81 years old. Ann was born in Boston on May 14, 1931, a daughter of the late James Blute and Mary (Sullivan) Blute. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1949. Ann worked as a clerk at ”Donovan & Fallons” on Main Street in Charlestown for more than 30 years until its closing. She then worked as a clerk at CVS in Charlestown for more than 20 years before retiring a couple of years ago. Ann enjoyed spending quality time with her family. Steven W. Jones, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died tragically on Tuesday evening May 7, 2013 in Charlestown. He was 21 years old. Steve was born in Cambridge on Jan. 28, 1992, a son of Susan Rawlinson and Richard Jones. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended the Boston Public School system. Steve worked several different jobs in his short lifetime but was always concerned about the well-being of his family and friends. He cherished the quality time that he spent with his loving mother. Lawrence R. Curran Jr., a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Epoch of Melrose Nursing Home in Melrose following a lengthy illness. He was 80 years old. Larry was born in Boston on Jan. 30, 1933, a son of the late Lawrence R. Curran and Elizabeth “Gert” (Fox) Curran. He grew up in Charlestown and attended the Boston Public School System. Larry worked as a longshoreman on the Boston waterfront many years ago and worked several other jobs in his lifetime. The Chinese national was studying statistics at Boston University. She was killed in Monday's bombing at the Boston Marathon.
A Chinese newspaper has identified the third Boston Marathon bombing victim as Lu Lingzu, a Boston University graduate student, according to the Associated Press. Lu, from Shenyang, China, was studying statistics in Boston. A second Chinese national and BU student, Zhou Danling, was also injured in the blasts. She is listed in stable condition in a Boston hospital, according to Chinese officials. Lu's death has led to an outpouring from friends, family and concerned neighbors in China. Lu's Sina Weibo page already has 20,000 comments from shocked and upset friends (Sina Weibo is a Chinese social media service that combines Twitter- and Facebook-like features). She was 79 years old. Ruth was born in Boston on June 9, 1933, a daughter of the late Philip J. Myers and Ellen F. (Kehoe) Myers. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School. Ruth has been a homemaker most of her adult life taking care of her four children. Florence M. (Heidelman) MacDonald, a 50-year resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life unexpectedly on Monday, March 11, 2013 at her home in Charlestown. She was 87 years old. Florence was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 8, 1925, a daughter of the late William Heidelman and Sofie (Merz) Heidelman. She grew up in Ridgewood, New York where she attended schools there and graduated high school there. Florence worked as a legal secretary for Wolf, Greenfield and Sacks Law Offices in Boston for more than 30 years. Mildred P. Ryan, 88, of Canton, formerly of Jamaica Plain and Charlestown passed away Feb. 26 at the Epoch Senior Health Care in Sharon surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Boston, she attended Boston Schools and lived in Canton for several years. Beloved wife of the late James M. Mother of Arline Puccio and her husband John of Berkley, Susan Walsh and her husband William of Mansfield and Jean Faucher and her husband Raymond of Auburn. Sister of Richard Moore of Quincy. Rex Trailer, a Boston TV icon who had been recovering from pneumonia recently, has died. Trailer hosted “Boomtown,” a children’s show with a Western theme on WBZ-TV from 1956-1974. How did a Western cowboy make his mark in Boston? According to Wikipedia, his corporate overlords gave him a choice of Cleveland or Boston. But he's remembered for more than his cowboy get-up. The Boston Globe wrote in an editorial last year: Kids adored Trailer’s rodeo tricks. But mostly they adored him for his consistent kindness and competence. Trailer was 84.
