Your Guide: 2nd Charles River Rummage Offers Fun, Activism and Friendly Competition

The event, sponsored by BeCause Water, will be held Saturday, Aug. 10 in nearby Cambridge.

Boston residents can help clean up the Charles River with a little fun and friendly competition this Saturday, Aug. 10 during the second Charles River Rummage.

The event is sponsored by BeCause Water and will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Charles River Canoe and Kayak's Kendall location, at 500 Broad Canal Way, Cambridge.

The day will begin at 10 a.m. with an introduction followed by boat launch between 10:30 and 11 a.m. Teams of four (two double kayaks per team) will travel the river and compete to collect the most man-made debris from the river during an hour of “rummaging.” The team that collects the most weight of trash by the end of the hour will win the grand prize. Prizes will also be given out for second and third place.
