The Stroll is Today, Pearl Harbor Memorial Service, Copley Singers at St. Mary's Sunday

Events this weekend in Charlestown.

• Charlestown's biggest holiday tradition, the 2013 Holiday Stroll, will happen Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the neighborhood.

Boston National Historical Park will host a memorial service on the World War II destroyer USS Cassin Young in the Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston National Historical Park on Saturday, Dec. 7, from noon to 1 p.m. to commemorate the 1941 surprise attack by the Japanese on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The USS Cassin Young is named for U.S. Navy Commander Cassin Young who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

• The Copley Singers, under the direction of Brian Jones, will be performing music of the holidays at a free concert at Saint Mary’s Church, 55 Warren St. on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3:30 p.m. The Copley Singers perform across the region, including venues in Boston, Cambridge, Methuen, Plymouth, Duxbury, Cape Cod and the Islands. Many members have sung at Trinity Church in Copley Square, where director Jones served from 1984-2004. A special donation taken during the event will go to Harvest on Vine food pantry. This event is sponsored by the Hammond Residential Real Estate and the Friends of Charlestown Library.

USS Constitution sailors are scheduled to light the ship's 2013 holiday season tree aboard 'Old Ironsides' in Charlestown Navy Yard on Sunday, Dec. 8. Constitution's crew will begin embarking guests for the tree lighting ceremony at 3:45 p.m. Guests will be able to observe evening colors and the firing of the ship's saluting battery (cannon) at sunset (4:11 p.m.) The tree lighting will follow immediately after the conclusion of evening colors, upon the arrival of Santa Claus aboard 'Old Ironsides.' The ceremony is scheduled to conclude at 4:45 p.m. and guests will be able to tour Constitution until 6 p.m., with children able to visit with Santa and his elves aboard the ship. This event will be open to the public for anyone wishing to attend. A federal or state-issued photo identification will be required for visitors ages 18 and older who wish to board the ship.

The Charlestown Working Theater, 442 Bunker Hill St., will be holding its annual Holiday Extravaganza with performances of "Freddy Goes to the North Pole" by Walter Brooks, adapted by Kristin Johnson. The play will feature the CWT Junior Ensemble, ages 6-12. Freddy, the talking pig, has an itch to travel and decides that the other animals on Bean Farm should join him on a little excursion. Freddy chooses the North Pole as the group's destination. The Arctic regions turn out to be a bit chilly but a chance meeting with Santa Claus makes the trip more than worthwhile.

Santa will be at Crate Escape, located at 200 Terminal St. (under the Tobin Bridge) on Saturday, Dec. 7 beginning at 5:30 p.m. have his photo taken with your pooch.
