Boston to Honor Memorial Day with Observances This Weekend

Ceremonies will be held in various portions of the city on Sunday and Monday.

Boston officials plan to hold several observances and activities in honor of Memorial Day this weekend in various parts of the city. 

Below is a roundup of what will take place this weekend into Monday, according to officials. 

Sunday, May 25

A Memorial Day ceremony will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, 355 Walk Hill St. in Mattapan from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include a short parade from inside the cemetery gate up to the WWI and WWII Monument, where the ceremony will be held, officials said.

Monday, May 26

On Memorial Day, services will be held at Fairview cemetery, 45 Fairview Ave. in Hyde Park at 11 a.m. Activities will begin with an 8 a.m. service at the Fogg-Roberts American Legion Post 79, 56 Harvard Ave. in Hyde Park.

Participants will then march to a mass at Most Precious Blood Parish, 43 Mable St., and then return to the American Legion for the start of a tour of local veterans' squares.

The procession will end at the Civil War Memorial at Fairview Cemetery for the closing ceremony at 11 a.m.

A Memorial Day observance will also be held on Monday at Evergreen Cemetery, 2060 Commonwealth Ave. in Brighton from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call Boston's Cemetery Division at 617-635-7361.
