Talk on the 1834 Burning of the Charlestown Convent and La Piñata at the Library

Events happening this week.

• On Tuesday, Oct. 15, the Charlestown Historical Society is hosting a talk by author Nancy Lusignan Schultz on the Burning of the Charlestown Convent and School in 1834. The talk will take place at the James W. Conway Bunker Hill Post 26, 23 Adams St. at 7:30 p.m.

• On Monday, Oct. 14, Whole Foods Market at 51 Austin St. is holding its "Whole Market, Whole Baby Vendors Fair" beginning at 5:30 p.m. Find out more about the store's prenatal and childrens’ supplements and how to take the best care of yourself and your little ones with our all natural, premium quality products, plus grab samples from our vendor friends and a swag bag to take home.

La Piñata: An Introduction to Latin American Culture will be held on Friday, Oct. 18, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Charlestown Branch of the Boston Public Library, 179 Main St. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, La Piñata, a Boston-based organization dedicated to promoting Latin American culture, will provide children and teens (grades K-8) a general introduction to Latin America through a variety of art, games, and music activities. Space is limited; please register with the children’s librarian.
