St. John School Principal and Teachers featured on "The Good Catholic Life" Radio Show This Week for Catholic Schools Week

Karen McLaughlin, Principal of St. John School in Boston’s North End, along with Mrs. Julia Daley, K3B teacher and Ms. Margaret Betts, 1B teacher, were selected to be the feature school for Catholic Schools Week on “The Good Catholic Life” radio show on AM 1060 on January 28th.  They joined Scot Landry, the host of the radio show, and talked about the cutting-edge programs and education that St. John School offers as well as the unique character of the school.

Mrs. McLaughlin talked about the many partnerships the school has with the Coast Guard Base in the North End, the North Bennet Street School, NEMPAC and the Boston Community Collaborative.  Ms. Betts and Mrs. Daley shared how they utilize technology in their classrooms with the purchase of iPads from a grant through the Catholic Schools Foundation, their use of SmartBoards as well as the Owl Reading program and the Latin and Greek Roots program.

They all discussed how the school has grown dramatically adding a second K3 and 2nd Grade classroom this year and how the school will be adding a second 3rd Grade classroom next year.  Mrs. McLaughlin noted how the school now draws students from not only the North End, but also outside of the North End.
