Charlestown Students Win White House Trip

A dozen Charlestown High School students recently won first place in a White House YouTube video contest open to Americans from Asian and Pacific islands living across the country.

The students, who reported that they had not been outside of Boston since immigrating here from China, said that they are still working on reaching beyond their safety zones and overcoming social barriers, including that of being non-native English speakers.

The group is scheduled to accept its award at the White House on April 5, but the students need to raise funds to pay for the trip.
