Charlestown Sixth Graders Learn about Parks Planning

Students from Clarence R. Edwards Middle School visited the Boston Parks and Recreation Department offices in Roxbury on Tuesday.

Boston Parks Commissioner Antonia Pollak welcomed a group of sixth-graders from the Clarence R. Edwards Middle School in Charlestown to the Boston Parks and Recreation Department offices in Roxbury for a presentation on Dec. 11.

The students created a clay and paper model showing suggested improvements to a local park including a dog park, outdoor spa, swimming pool, lake, bridge, bowling, rock wall, and golf.

Pollak noted that the actual park in question is slated for renovation in the near future and invited the youngsters to take part in the planning process.
