Warren Up in Polls, Herald Endorses Brown: Who's Winning?

With Warren holding a small lead in the polls, and Brown getting a key endorsement from the Boston Herald, who do you think has the momentum coming into the final days of the election?

Democrat Elizabeth Warren is up by five points over incumbent Republican Scott Brown in the latest WBUR/MassINC poll of the Massachusetts senate race. That's a near-total reversal of the BUR poll last month, which had Brown up by four on Oct. 9.

In fact, Warren has been trending upwards in most recent polling. The New York Times' FiveThirtyEight blog has Warren up by four in an average of recent polls. The blog, which uses advanced statistical modeling akin to baseball sabermetrics (think Moneyball) gives Warren an 89 percent chance of winning the election.

But Brown's got some significant energy on his side as well. He's been barnstorming the state with political luminaries like Senator John McCain and today won the Boston herald's endorsement.

So what do you think? Who has the momentum coming into the final two weeks of the election? Do the polls in liberal-leaning Massachusetts mean anything to you, or will Brown's high-profile support sway the electorate? Give us your prediction in the comments below!

Scott Brown, is he the Republican senator who doesn't acknowledge in his campaigning that he's running on the Republican ticket? Oh, yes, he is a Republican. Imagine that!

If he is so Bi-Partisan why is he not running as an Independent? Why did he sign the Grover Norquist Pledge? Why did he vote so many times against women? Why didn't he vote to repeal DADT before the last minute when he knew it would pass? Why does Karl Rove help him with his ads? Why does he support Romney? Why is Scalia his model Supreme Justice? So many questions about this guy. Warren we know will fight for us and she is like a pitbull for the average person.

Brown has shown he is a true moderate and only sided with the Repubicans about half the time. Warren on the other hand has shown repeatedly that she is a liar - first about her native heritage, then about her protecting average folks from big business. Brown, hasn't been ideal, but I will take another term of him over a proven liar.

Warren had a chance to fight for "working people" but she took a job with Traveler's Insurance and worked against asbestos victims instead. She had a chance to fight to save the pensions of LVT Steel Co.'s retirees but took a job working against them instead. Warren was the chairman of the TARP Congressional Oversight Panel and had a chance to regulate the use of taxpayer money that was given to the big Wall Street companies. A lot of the money was used for big bonuses to Warren's fellow one-percenters. She was paid $193,000. Taxpayers spent $10.5 million for salaries & expenses for Warren's five-member panel. So much for fighting for "us."

We need someone that is willing to vote on both sides of the isle. Senator Brown is that person.

The momentum appears to be entirely on Warren's side: http://polltracker.talkingpointsmemo.com/contests/ma-senator-12 http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/senate/ma/massachusetts_senate_brown_vs_warren-2093.html

Since The Patch refuses to investigate about how closely the CNC and BRA are in bed together; the relationship between the CNC board memebers and the BRA; how about why the CNC doesn't open up their books for the residents they're elected to represent to look at?; or why the CNC doesn't post their minutes for the public to view?; or how about the BRA allowing the construction of Rutherford and West School be built beyond the scope of the plans that were presented to the public, we're left to discuss politics, WholeFoods coming soon and dog costumes. Yeah, I understand The Patch is just a blog that posts articles from other sources, just saying. G'day

Campaign Update: Because the "Townies" appear to be overwhelming supporting Scott Brown in the Senate race, the word around "The Town" is that the Warren campaign has signed up Doug MacDonald to handle things for her here for the duration. Not sure who he actually replaced, but there hasn't been much of a Warren presence here to date. MacDonald has a long history of supporting Democratic candidates here in Charlestown.

Warren will win handily if the Mayor puts his full effort and that of his machine on the side of her election. Otherwise, too close to call.

I guess You are both Right John and Richie... There where over 30 people in city Square for her Standout tonight....Looks like Doug and the Mayor are pulling out all the stops ,,, Rumors is there will be 100 signs up over the weekend with 1 week to go!!!!!
John R. Murphy October 25, 2012 at 11:23 PM
That's good news for Warren. To date, there has only been one poor old woman standing alone in Thompson Sq. There are more Brown signs up here than Warren signs. Doug MacDonald knows how to win elections.
