Charlestown and Boston officials have given a thumbs up to a proposed AT&T cell tower at the Saint Francis De Sales Church on Bunker Hill Street.

Most recently, the Boston Zoning Board of Appeals approved placing a tower at the church's steeple following approval on April 1 by the Charlestown Neighborhood Council, according to the Charlestown Patriot-Bridge

Moreover, the proposal received no opposition at a community meeting on March 31, and the Charlestown Preservation Society has also given approval, according to the report.

Plans call for the tower to be placed behind the louvers of the steeple and is not expected to be visible from the street as the cellular network looks to boost reception in the area of Bunker Hill, Greene Street and Medford Street, according to the Patriot-Bridge, which reported that the church is expected to receive monthly payments for use of the steeple.
