Robber Strikes Cooperative Bank, Gets Caught in Parking Lot

Crook doesn't get far after Tuesday morning heist.

UPDATE: Twitter user @CPBulger sent us the above twitpic of the scene and indicated that he believed the object on the ground is the robber's disguise.

Original article:

A bank robber struck on Main Street in Charlestown Tuesday, but didn't get far from the scene of the crime, according to scanner reports.

The first reports crossed the scanner around 8:50 a.m., saying that the robber used a note. Shortly afterward, followup reports said that police caught the robber in the parking lot immediately adjacent to the bank's 201 Main Street locaiton.

At least one twitter user passed by the robbery "in progress," and couldn't help but tag her tweet with "#thetown" and "#wheresbenaffleck."

I reject very, very few comments. The only time that I do is when a) they violate our terms of service by using racial slurs or other offensive language (you should note that I'm pretty lax on that) or b) when commenters start making personal threats. In that case, I usually close the thread. I've gotten enough calls about death threats since taking over this site to last me quite a few years. That doesn't mean, however, that certain comments aren't being rejected by the Charlestown community. We have the flagging system for a reason, and I mostly let you guys police yourselves.

Matt, it wasn't a story, but his comment being removed after it posted on a related article.

Bunny (or whatever your ridiculous name is) - you've gone on the record here attempting to condone armed robbery. No one here is going to respect a word you say.

Until we start teaching these little kids that there are other ways to get high instead of chemical high, we will see much more crime and drug abuse in our community. The key is to put some programs in place that won't get cut . sports is great however there are a lot of kids that don't do sports, as a community we somewhat limit ourselves to sports we have a neighborhood council why can't we as a community come up with different programs for these kids . we have a Drug problem and if anyone says differently they would be lying, better the parks and do arts in the park, storytime or picnic in the park we need families to come out and spend time in the community. we need to get some older youth to go around and help the elderly who can't fix up their gardens and around their house put these kids to work make them earn their way into the community then maybe they will think differently in destroying it there is no direction for these kids they have too much time on their hands to get into trouble.

Matt, is that why I sometimes see comments come to me in an email and then I don't see them in the comment thread? Does that mean someone clicked "Flag as inappropriate" and the comment was automatically removed?
