Residents Report Landscaper Attempting to Poison Dogs

Three residents report seeing a landscaper leave hot dog pieces on the grass at 550 Medford Street.

If you walk your dog on Medford Street near its intersection with Main Street and Bunker Hill Street, don’t let it eat anything.

Three dog owners recently told police at District A-15 they saw a landscaper at the Bricklayers Apprentice Fund at 550 Medford St. leave what they believe to be poisoned hot dog pieces on the grass.

The resident who reported the incident told police that he saw the landscaper with “a [five]-gallon bucket of a blue/green solution believed to be antifreeze with hot dogs soaking inside.”

The witness said that he saw the landscaper spread the hotdog pieces around in the grass after completing his work.

“The witness confronted the suspect, stating ‘are you trying to poison the dogs?’” a police report read.

“The suspect replied ‘yes,’” the witness told police. The pair argued before the landscaper left. Once the landscaper had gone, the witness collected the hot dog pieces in his own five-gallon bucket before informing police of the incident. Two neighbors accompanied him to the district A-15 police department. They told officers that they had seen the same man performing the landscaping at earlier times and had noticed hotdog pieces left behind after his departure.

Durty Harry’s Doggie Boutique posted on Facebook that several customers have reported having sick dogs, possibly as a result of the hot dog pieces.

Police took the collected hotdogs as evidence. As of Wednesday morning, according to the department, the case had not been updated and was still under investigation.

The woman who answered the phone at the Bricklayers Apprentice Fund said that no one within the organization would speak to the press on this matter.

Dog walkers are dirty, nasty people. Roaming the town and promoting your pet to mess is disgusting. They show no class holding a bag of dog waste. These people are primative.
Dan September 25, 2012 at 04:04 PM
Make Bunker Hill...well said my friend. These dog walkers are nasty, filthy pigs. They show no respect for the community. They like walking around and allowing their pet to mess everywhere. The people who pick up think that they are sooooo responsible. Did you ever see them pick up # 1?
Dan September 25, 2012 at 04:06 PM
Well said.
Julie September 25, 2012 at 04:24 PM
Children are messy, loud and annoying. Most parents don't bother controlling or cleaning up after them either. Is it ok to poison them ? Make Bunker Hill day a National Holiday !!!!!?
Julie September 25, 2012 at 04:28 PM
My dogs poop in their own yard, and I clean it up, I rent and am grateful my landlord understands and allows me to have my 2 dogs at no extra charge, so I have no issue with cleaning up after my responsibly. It's just going to get worse the way people are raising their kids to be entitled little brats with no consequences for their actions because they are all "too sensitive". The world is going to "dog sh*t"
Ryan September 25, 2012 at 06:29 PM
These are city roads, sidewalks, and parks!! They arent clean anyway you morons
Richard September 25, 2012 at 07:31 PM
What would you think if you seen someone walking a squirrel down the street? Stupid? Its the same way a lot of people see someone walking a dog. Stupid and barbaric. It shows you have no brain...especially when your holding a bag of dog crap. A collar and leash puts stress on a dog and its cruel. The owners need to wear it not the dog.
Ryan September 25, 2012 at 07:35 PM
Richard, are you high or just a F'n moron? Comparing Dogs to squirrels. i wish i could come throw my dogs bag of crap on you. I bet most of dogs in charlestown were adopted from a kill shelter, pretty sure their lives are better now you assclown. And if you put a harness on your dog, its no stress. Not that your post has anything to do with a sick man poisoning dogs. Nothing cruel about putting a leash on a dog, but poisining hot dogs is pretty cruel. Also, leaving dogs in a kill shelter is pretty cruel. It was also pretty cruel that god gave you such a simple brain.

holy shit, how do you survive in life being this dumb ? I am afraid for the world with people like you walking around living freely among us. You need to be locked up in a mental hospital.
Joseph September 25, 2012 at 08:51 PM
Come on Ryan. You know you're being baited by trolls and supporters for the accused, right? If this scumbag is a few jobs from breaking even, how is he affording a lawyer? Who's paying for it? GeneO? Bricklayers?
Richard September 25, 2012 at 10:44 PM
Ryan you dont have the chops to meet me.
Richard September 25, 2012 at 10:48 PM
Hey Ryan, I hate wiping myself and yet you love carring that bag of dog crap around the city... I guess it makes you feel proud...sick person.
Dan September 25, 2012 at 11:00 PM
You clearly have no clue
Dan September 25, 2012 at 11:03 PM
I don't like it when someone steals my ID {the real DAN}. You need to get a life! Dog walkers are not the problem you are.

If you are letting your animal relieve themselves on private property, than legally you are trespassing. Why would you let your dog walk through an area of grass that is loaded with pet waste in the first place? Vets will tell you that many parasites can be passed on to animals and humans through contact with feces. If you seen your dog eating anything, why wouldn't you try to take it out of their mouth? Who knows what that food has been exposed to laying on the ground? The first issue is, your animal does not belong on private property. If your animal does relieve itself, than please pick up after it. There are not many places in the city to bring a dog, but because a piece of private property has some grass, doesn't mean the entire neighborhood is "entitled" to use it. We also have to be responsible for where we walk our pets. I am careful any where I walk my dog (street grates, broken glass, etc.) If I see food laying on the ground, I walk my dog around it. If she happens to grab something, I do whatever I can to remove it. Whether people are dog owners or not no one wants to step in poop. The people who allow their dogs to defecate anywhere and not pick it up, are as bad as the scumbag who tried to poison them. GOOD pet owners don't do this. It's the handful of people who shouldn't have a pet in the first place that walk away. The Bricklayers have been good neighbors, they can't control what others do. I am done adding my two cents and my Irish Setter needs to go out. :-)

@ Joseph the courts will appoint you a lawyer if you are indigent. It's part of your Miranda Rights.
Ouiser Boudreau September 26, 2012 at 02:04 AM
@ Doc...I used to own a Chessie "Duke" and I agree - the 80 lbs. of bull weight and pure determination, the dog would quickly grab something in it's mouth! LOL My Irish Setter now is 10 pounds lighter is much faster - but I do make an effort to try to either avoid the trash or remove it from her mouth> I know it's not easy by any means!
Mary E. September 26, 2012 at 02:30 AM
Well said Ouiser. Your the only person with respect and common sense.
Mary E. September 26, 2012 at 02:31 AM
Hey Julie, how do you survive being a pig?
Mary E. September 26, 2012 at 02:33 AM
Well said Dan and 100% correct!!!
Mary E. September 26, 2012 at 02:35 AM
Ryan, of course you dont care because you are ignorant.
Mary E. September 26, 2012 at 02:36 AM
Julie, you are a dirty, dirty pig...shame on you.
Just a person! September 26, 2012 at 08:31 AM
Quiser, So the next time I see you walking your Irish setter, and you walkor have you dog walk on MY grass, I guess by what your saying it will be alright for me to shoot your dog?
Joseph September 26, 2012 at 12:19 PM
Quiser - Yes, I know. In this case, the articles I read (outside The Patch) didn't mention this prick having a court appointed lawyer, which I find to be true when one is appointed. Furthermore, I was adding fuel to the fire about his close relationship with State Rep Gene O'Flaherty. Dog owners - just pick up after your dog and don't let them piss on our front stoops and potted plants. Respect your neighbors. It's a rather simple solution to keep the peace. Don't you think?
Julie September 26, 2012 at 12:39 PM
Mary E, do you realize that your comments make no sense ? You shouldn't be calling anyone any names especially calling someone ignorant your an idiot. And I am a pig because I told some guy his kid shouldn't be sitting on the dirty ground anyways ? No sense what so ever. If I told him he SHOULD let his kid sit directly on the dirty ground then yes that would make sense. You either are dumb as rocks or you have a reading comprehension problem. What school did you graduate (if you even did) from so I can makes sure no one I know goes there. We do NOT need anymore idiots in this world.
Ouiser Boudreau September 26, 2012 at 02:52 PM
@Just a person ... I can assure you that it would not be okay to shoot my dog or any dog. That is going a little too far don't you think? And its quite the immature statement to make. The thing is, I wouldn't allow my dog on your property in the first place. As always I will stick to not compromising my values by respecting my neighbors privacy and personal property. But common sense would also prevail that if on the off chance she broke off her leash and squatted on your lawn, I would immediately be cleaning it up and apologizing for it happening. This is called being civilized and respectful.
Ouiser Boudreau September 26, 2012 at 03:15 PM
I must add....if you see someone letting their dog relieve itself whether it be on a public or private property and they don't pick it up, then speak up! These are the people who make the rest of us (responsible dog owners) look bad. I think the local neighborhood watch should really get involved in calling out these people. If not thepm than local law enforcement. And everyone wonders why dogs get banned out of Parks and off of beaches...???? Because of the same knuckleheads who let their dogs poop all over the place and leave it there. Its not the dog's fault. Its the owner's responsibility. If I see someone doing that I do speak up. Yes, I have been told some not so nice responses back, but at least I spoke up. And really, I will call animal control, I don't care who it is. Dont own a dog if you can't properly take care of it. Buy a goldfish instead.

Just Wondering - Please leave Eugene O'flaherty out of this i understand that it is his brother in law but he is not responsible for what other people do when he is not around. If you are a real townie then you know he does everything he can not only for the town but all the people in it. He actually cares what goes on around here and tries to help make it a nicer place to live, and not only when he is up for re-election either. He really would help anyone of us if we needed it and he was able so please i understand why it seems to be a big deal but if you only knew everything hes done around here you would not even have posted that thank you

Well people, if u have live around Kenneth Hyland for 2 yrs, then u would understand wat he is about. i grew up in Chelsea n just recently moved to the Chelsea YMCA in 2008. when i met Kenneth, he seemed to be a loner, but when i finally got a chance to meet him in person, he seemed like a nice guy. "but to tell u the truth" he was just n is a troubled person! We became friends in the beginning, then soon enough, he became a total ass, not just to me but to everyone at the YMCA. His demeanor changed and he became very violent. He didn't like people greetin him or even talkin to him. Most people tried to stay away, but in our situation, that was hard to do considering we ran into him in the halls when he had something to complain about. So if u think Kenneth deserves to be in jail, I will admit that he needs psyciatric help n then some. This is just my opinion, considering wat I,ve been through with him within the past few years.
