Charlestown Police Log: Reported Gunfire on Tufts Street
Incidents reported to Area A police.
Dec. 27: A Chestnut Street resident reported a group of youths passing his home decided to smash the glass globe of a gas-style streetlight in front of his residence. No description of the vandals was available.
Dec. 27: A Perkins Street resident returned him to see that the rear door to his home was ajar and a black gym bag was in the rear yard. The homeowner also noticed a jar containing change and a bracelet were missing from the house. Police could not find any signs that there was a forced entry into the abode. It's being investigated by detectives.
Dec. 28: At approximately noon, officers were sent to Tufts Street for a report of shots fired in the vicinity. The 911 caller reported hearing between 8 and 15 shots being fired in two separate volleys. A search of the area for any possible victims, a suspected shooter or any ballistic evidence laying about, came up empty.

Dec. 28: A Salem Street resident told police that between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. someone stole two bikes from the inside of the front hallway of his home; a gold frame Yukon with a blue-front fork and a red Schwinn.
