UPDATE: Laptop Stolen from Homeland Security

[UPDATE Tuesday, 10:40 a.m.]

An official with the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement has reportedly confirmed that an investigation into this issue is ongoing, according to an article updated Tuesday morning on the Fox 25 website.

Officials told Fox 25 that a theft occured from a U.S. government defense contractor in the Boston area, but they did not specify whether it was in Charlestown. No further information was available.

Terel Harris, communications director with Massachusetts' Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, said he had received several calls about an incident Monday in Charlestown but was unaware of a current investigation involving his office.

Harris said that Boston Police responded on Friday, Nov. 16 to an incident in Charlestown involving a contractor who works with the Department of Homeland Security, but he had no further information on the matter.

Massachusetts State Police had no information about this incident and said it was a Department of Homeland Security matter.

Reports are coming in about a search underway for a woman who may have taken a laptop and phone containing classified information from a Department of Homeland Security building in Charlestown.

The incident occured at around 10:30 a.m. and was sent out via a Twitter alert at around 11 a.m.
