Bicyclist Identified in Fatal Charlestown Accident
A Chelsea man was struck and killed by a garbage truck in Charlestown on Thursday, and a Swampscott man was subsequently charged.
Authorities this weekend identified the bicyclist who was struck and killed by a garbage truck in Charlestown's Sullivan Square on Thursday.
The bicyclist was identified as of Owen McGrory, 30, of Chelsea; his identity was withheld until Saturday pending notification of relatives, according to the Boston Globe.
McGrory was killed in a hit-and-run accident on the afternoon of Thursday, April 4 in the area of Cambridge and Spice streets at 1:40 p.m.

Detectives were able to locate the vehicle allegedly involved in the incident, described as a white garbage truck, in Revere Thursday night. Ricky Prezioso, 41, of Swampscott, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death, and the investigation is ongoing.
A not-guilty please was entered on Prezioso's behalf on Friday in Charlestown Municipal Court, and he is due back in court May 19, according to the Globe.Find out what's happening in Charlestownwith free, real-time updates from Patch.
